Street Art and More - Quiz Tour - Ortica, Milan
A few weeks ago I participated in a quiz tour of the Ortica area of Milan.
The tour was organized by X City Tours and Elena of Milano Sguardi Inediti. The former organizes quiz tours around Milan, Venice and a few other cities around Italy. The latter is specialized in street art tours in Milan, where you can discover the city and get to know the artists that created the work on a one on one basis.
They paired up to create this Ortica quiz tour. Ortica a area of the city is fairly unknown even to locals. It’s not super well connected by metro, so you kind really have to be going there, to explore it.
But I am so glad they encouraged to get to know this part of the city. Covered with murals which are representative of various periods in Milan history the neightborhood is colorful and vibrant. It also has a few historic relics that have been destroyed in other parts of the city, like a world war bunker and a ballera, a place where people that used to work on the railroads used to go to dance and have a good time. In recent years balleras have become newly in style so you’ll find an interesting mix of senior citzens and young people mixing and dancing together.
What made the quiz tour especially fun besides the neighborhood was the quiz/scavenger hunt nature of the experience. We were given clues and questions to answer to. The team that got the most amount of questions right in the briefest amount of time won.
I think it should be noted that my team won. Lol. Fede, Andre and I kicked butt!
Check them out, It’s really an interesting way to get to know this and other part of the city.
