Here's a list of some of things happening this month - December 2017 - in Milan. As usually, feel free to comment below if you've been to or will be attending any of these events. And feel free to suggest things of interest for this and the coming months.

1 – 24 December: “Il Calendario dell’Avvento in musica” – (loosely translated as “A Musical Advent Calender”) In Piazza Duomo, every day from 6:00 – 6:30 pm there will be free Christmas jazz music performances.
2 -10 December: L’artigiano in Fiera” (loosely translated as “The Artisan Fair”). Artisans from all over Italy and the world have their wares on this display during this annual fair. Entrance is Free.
2 December – 7 January: Within the Porta Venezia Gardens, you’ll find “The Village of Wonders” il Villaggio delle Meraviglie which includes an ice skating rink, games and Santa Claus’ house.
6 December: The lighting of the Duomo Christmas Tree – sponsored by Sky. Guests welcomed starting 4:30 pm.
7 December: The First at La Scala, 2017/2018 The inauguration of the new season of La Scala on occasion of Sant’Ambrogio, the patron saint of Milan.
7 – 10 December: La Fiera degli Obej Obej. This annual Christmas fair, held around the Sforza Castle, has a multitude of sellers showing off their wares.
9 December: Albero di Natale Luminoso Umano (loosely translated as The Lighted Living Christmas Tree) A Flash mob will unite to create the spectacle for the eyes. Get there by 5 pm. The tree lighting is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
16 December: Santa Running – People dressed up like Santa Clause running at a leisurely pace. The event starts (and ends) at Piazza del Cannone at 2 pm.
17 December: The largest panettone in the world will be on display at the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II. There will also be a free sampling of the 140kg Christmas cake, as well as those produced by artisans from around the city. The event begins at 4:30 pm.
23 – 31 December: Le Cirque, you know that awesome theatrical 'circus' performance. Tickets from 27.50 euro per person.
24 December: Attend Midnight Mass at the Duomo Cathedral. Doors open at 10:30pm
31 December: Dinner and champagne while listening to the soulful sounds of the Harlem Gospel Choir at Blue Note Milano. Guests should plan to arrive for 19.30. Price: 220 euro per person.
On-Going Events
28 October – 31 December: Mudec will be offering free entrance to their permanent collection (as of now the Italian site has been updated even though the English website says that this promotion has expired).
2 December – 4 April: “The Steam Factory” La Fabbrica del Vapore will be hosting an exhibit called “Revolution. Records and Rebels 1966 – 1970” from the Beatles to Woodstock.
