Lori's Review of the Move to Italy Masterclass

Lori's Review of the Move to Italy Masterclass

Last night Lori Lieberman sent me a review of the Move to Italy Masterclass that almost brought me to tears.

It’s one of those instances when one can sit back and say, okay I’m on the right path. I’m doing the right thing…

Here’s what Lori had to say, in her own words.

“As a proud and self-proclaimed “Italophile” and follower of many Italy-related accounts on social media, I have been following Thea Duncan’s Doing Italy for a few years now. An American who moved to Italy 18 years ago, and is now married to her Italian hubby, Diego, Thea has amassed knowledge and experience that make her stand out as one of Instagram’s leading expat influencers living in Italy. The content on her Instagram account is amazing, and you can dive deeper by reading her blog and keeping up on her website, where she shares delicious recipes too!  It’s easy to see that Thea really has a deep passion for what she does and the content she shares on her platforms.  She’s written a guidebook on Milan so you know she’s got legitimate credentials and is more than just posting beautiful scenery, architecture and food. But besides her expertise on her current home city of Milan, Thea’s 18 years of living in Italy and immersing herself in the culture, have given her an astonishingly broad range of knowledge.

All that knowledge, combined with her experience, education, passion and skills have culminated into this unbelievable masterclass she created! Thea’s outgoing and friendly personality make even the shyest of pupils feel welcome. As soon as I read about this class on Thea’s Instagram, I immediately discussed with my husband, a fellow Italy lover, who was curious, yet apprehensive. After assuring him that this did not mean we were immediately packing up everything and moving the family permanently to Italy, he was totally on board with the class.

For anyone who has ever seriously thought about moving to Italy, or simply dreamed about it, Thea’s Masterclass is the place to be! One of the great things about this class is that it’s for anyone – like my husband and I who fantasize about living in Italy for a few months out of the year until we eventually retire there, or, for those people who are literally packing their bags right now and making the life move. Having already taken the course, I’m actually envious of her new students (and excited for them!). If you’ve been overwhelmed by all the different avenues that must be explored to successfully pull off a move like this, Thea’s online course is designed for you, no matter where you currently live! Things you never thought of before, and secrets and tips you wouldn’t normally be privy to, are all divulged and laid out for you in organized, and chronological modules.

In addition to the online modules, there are Zoom meetings, at least 1/ week or sometimes more if necessary. Besides fascinating, informative and fun, these Zoom meetings with Thea are also a great place to network with other like-minded individuals. Our class really all got along well with each other and access to the Doing Italy: Moving to Italy Facebook Group is for a lifetime. Developing these connections with other people who are also interested in spending some time, or all their time, in Italy is very valuable. We can’t wait to all meet in person on a rooftop in Roma one day!

One of my favorite parts of the program was the guest speakers. Thea brings in professionals from their fields to present topics as academic as taxes in Italy, and as niche as buying auction homes in Italy. My favorite guest speaker though, had to be Diego, Thea’s husband. He allowed us to pepper him (nice way of saying bombard) with a million different questions ranging from driving, banking, buying, and communicating in Italy, to the cultural differences of the many regions, and Italians’ general views of different foreigners and our cultures.

One of the genuine things I appreciated about Thea’s masterclass in general, was that she was not sugarcoating anything. Even though she obviously loves her adopted country, Italy is not all romantic gondola rides, Roman ruins, fabulous food and spectacular wine tasting. Historically these regions have been warring for centuries.  While this was certainly not a history lesson on all that, some of this is still entrenched in the culture, and that’s just reality. Thea will be honest about the good and the bad of every aspect of Italian cultural, financial and governmental bureaucracies, so you are truly prepared for this major endeavor. My husband and I both really appreciated her honesty about everything. This not only applies to Thea, but the guest speakers were all also refreshingly forthcoming.

I can’t say enough nice things about Thea and this course. It’s an amazing deal and worth every penny.  You really get so much value for your dollar (or euro or other currency). The really cool thing about the program is not only do you learn SO MUCH right away (it’s really a genius idea to put all this information together), you are also now part of a growing private club so to speak. Being part of this network and group, allows you to keep in touch with people who are making this move and learn from the experiences they will be sharing with us. I’m so excited to have taken this class and look forward to keeping in touch with our classmates, but most of all, to use the critically imperative information we now have at our fingertips to one day hopefully live la dolce vita.

Thank you Thea!
